Crispy Air Fryer Halloumi

A delicious lunch option for the busy student.

Ingredients

  • 227 grams halloumi cheese

  • 15 ml olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

  • Lemon wedges (garnish)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cut the halloumi cheese into even slices, about ½ inch thick.

  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Brush each slice of halloumi with this mixture on both sides.

  4. Place the halloumi slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd them to ensure even cooking.

  5. Air fry the halloumi for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are golden brown and crispy.

  6. Once cooked, remove the halloumi with tongs and place them on a serving platter.

  7. Garnish with lemon wedges and a sprinkle of fresh parsley. Serve immediately while hot and crispy. Use for topping salads or use as a wrap filling.

Notes

  • For an added kick, sprinkle some chilli flakes on the halloumi slices before air frying.

  • Pair the crispy halloumi with a fresh salad or serve it alongside warm pita bread for a complete meal.
