The new dating trend 'soft-ghosting' is probably worse than actual ghosting
We all know about ghosting, but there's a new dating trend in town called soft-ghosting and tbh we don't know which is worse.
Soft-ghosting is basically when someone you're chatting to responds to your message with a like or a heart reaction but doesn't offer any real response to you. For real. Rather than responding to your messages, a soft-ghost (which in all honesty sounds way too cute for this annoying behaviour) just 'likes' whatever you sent.
Our previous Sex 'N Education survey revealed that 43% of you have been ghosted and 47% of people have ghosted someone. It's definitely not a good thing to do, but it certainly is easier than explaining yourself.
Why is soft-ghosting worse than ghosting?
Ghosting is straight up not replying to someone. Yeah, it can be confusing. Why did it happen? What did I do? But ultimately at least you're getting the message: 'I don't want to talk to you anymore.' Ah well.
Soft-ghosting, however is keeping them on edge. They're still kind of responding, so it's still ok to kind of message them, right? WRONG. Always put in as much effort as someone is giving you when it comes to conversations. If someone is acting like they're not wanting to chat – maybe they're having an off day, give them space. But if someone is actually soft-ghosting you and they're responding to every message with, well… basically nothing. Stop. Trying.
Move onto the next one. There are plenty more ghosts on Tinder.
Soft-ghosting basically seems like a politer option than just full on ghosting, but in all honesty I'd definitely rather just say RIP to the ghoster.
